If you close your eyes and imagine your dream, family friendly, Texas swimming hole, you just might be picturing Krause Springs.
This beautiful Central Texas swimming hole features waterfalls, dozens of artesian springs and a natural (enhanced by man) swimming area.
Common SETX Family reader question: Does the water get hot in the summer? It does not. Fed by artesian springs, the Krause Springs Swimming hole is 68 degrees year round.
Are you trying to think of where / why you’ve heard of Spicewood? Willie Nelson’s Luck Ranch is in Spicewood and for decades, he’d pop into local clubs like Poodie’s Roadhouse and play for locals.
If you’ve never visited Spicewood, there are a lot of fun activities for families to enjoy together.
Here are some of our favorites:
- Pace Bend State Park: Our family has spent a lot of time in this park. If you are looking for wildlife, expect to see a lot of deer. In the evening or early morning, you can also see grey fox and the occasional bobcat. The park is popular with hikers, bikers, kayakers, and cliff civers.
- Mule Shoe Bend State Park. Offering access to beautiful Lake Travis, this park is popular for camping, family reunions, fishing, and more. There are miles and miles of multi-use trails designed to accommodate hikers, mountain bikers, and trail runners. Watercraft are available for rent in the park including fishing kayaks and stand up paddle boards.
- Angel’s Icehouse Spicewood: Southern style food, ice cold beer, and child friendly outdoor (and indoor) dining.
- Poodie’s Roadhouse: Good food and great live music.
- Luck Ranch: Willie Nelson’s long time ranch and popular music and event venue. Click here for their upcoming events.
